The characteristics of these sensors are as follows:-
1. Temperature Sensor
A bandgap semiconductor sensor is used to measure temperature. This
type of sensor is intrinsically linear and stable. It's main specifications
include a temperature resolution of 0.01°C and a repeatability
of 0.1°C.
2. RH Sensor
The RH sensor uses a capacitance polymer sensing element similar to
those used in other water vapour flux instruments. However, the close
integration of the sensing element and the signal processing electronics
has enabled the manufacturers to optimise the design for long-term
stability, low hysteresis, high response speed, and an ability to
recover from exposure to high humidity and contact with water without
loss of calibration.
The chip is fabricated using novel CMOSens™ technology that
integrates the sensors with signal processing electronics and digital
output conversion. Each chip is individually calibrated by the manufacturer
in a precision humidity chamber, with the calibration constants stored
on-chip. Biox measures an additional calibration correction, to ensure
the highest performance in water vapour flux measurement.
