Meet the Team


Elliott Berg

MSc, PhD
Technical Director

Elliott returned to higher education after two decades in the electronics industry. Qualifying with a distinction in his MSc, he joined the Skin Bioengineering Research Centre for PhD studies in opto-thermal radiometry. During this time, he got sucked into the early evolution of the AquaFlux, became one of the founding directors of Biox and now heads up R&D, electronics design and technical support.


Lori Ciortea

DipPhys, PhD
Managing Director

Lori joined Biox in April 2006 as Customer Support Manager, including sales, marketing and contract research. Since then she has taken on an increasing role and now runs the show in Biox's manufacturing facility in the Technopark building. Her responsibilities include customer support, manufacturing, purchasing, accounts, stock control and dispatch.

Previously a research scientist at the National Institute for R&D, Cluj, Romania, Lori is well equipped to support our users, having qualified for PhD at the home of AquaFlux, the Skin Bioengineering Research Centre of London South Bank University.


Bob Imhof

BSc, PhD, FInstP, FIEE, CPhys, CEng
Biox Chairman & LSBU Emeritus Professor

Bob is the inventor of the AquaFlux and ex-head of the Skin Bioengineering Research Centre of London South Bank University. Since his retirement from the university in 2009, Bob now works full-time for Biox where he contributes to R&D, design, external relations, marketing & sales.


Rafia Parvez

Manufacturing Technician

Rafia joined Biox in February 2012 to help with the growing volume of manufacturing, servicing, testing and calibration work. Qualified to BTEC Level 3 in Engineering, she is rapidly developing her skills through a Biox-sponsored apprenticeship programme. Rafia adds Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi to the languages Biox can communicate with.


Perry Xiao

BEng, MSc, PhD, FIET, CEng, CPhys, SFHEA
LSBU Associate Professor
Biox Director

Perry joined the Skin Bioengineering Research Centre as an ORS Scholar in 1994, graduating with a PhD in mathematical physics in 1998. After two years as Research Fellow, he was appointed to an LSBU lectureship in telecommunications engineering. Apart from his teaching and research work, Perry looks after theoretical R&D and software development within Biox.
